This is not a hoax call but a recruitment agency. Number was submitted by a candidate who was unsuccessful in a position and as a result he placed this number on the internet. Police have been informed.
Thank you for the advice. I support any cancer research particularly as I lost my dear husband, aged 50 to cancer in 2010. I will always put money in collection boxes for worthy causes, and I have sponsored people doing charity work for Cancer Research UK whenever asked. However, I do object to getting these phone calls. I do a lot of temporary work so have no regular income. I can therefore not commit to a fixed regular payment. My husband was the main earner in the household, therefore being widowed has meant money is really tight. I get what work I can, whenever I can, but it's not easy nowadays. I will continue to sponsor friends/family doing voluntary walks etc for Cancer Research UK - but I will provide a fake phone number in future so they don't hassle me.
Mary - if you gave them your number on a form you filled in they can use it to call you! Applied for anything lately and forgot to tick/untick the little box at the end?
Even though my number is registered as not receiving unsolicited calls I get calls from these people as well. However, I don't answer the calls but let the answerphone do it. They usually switch off during the message.
DO NOT CALL this number - they're pretending to be technical support for microsoft, They then gain remote access to your computer and then proceed to tell you have a million viruses, to which they then ask for money, if you don't comply with them, they reek havock into your files, and if you don't pay them any money, they reward you by messing up your whole system. Wankers!!!!!
Driving me nuts because I let the answer phone pick up and you've guessed, no message, just runs the length of the answer phone. If its a call centre making cold calls how about they cross the number off their list when no one picks up. Instead they phone every few days. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr
I rang back. Dialogue:
Them: 118 Information Group.
Me: I've already told you not to ring me and I am on TPS.
Them: TPS doesn't apply to us. That is for telemarketing and sales.
Me. When you ring me, that IS telemarketing and sales. Goodbye.
I missed the call because I was in the shower, but I too filled out a form maybe an hour ago to find out the cost of driving lessons. Same thing happened with a different company when I wanted to find out the cost of car insurance - they won't give you a quote unless you give them a phone number, but all I want is a quote!
Got an agreement to pay off the money owed. Yet still call 5 times a day, 7 days a week from 730am to 930pm. Absolute scum bags, even when you answer they usually hang up
Phone rang several times and each time no-one bothered to speak, they just hung up. Rang them back and they said they were a Hull based company trying to help people with debt problems. If that is the truth then why hang up when you answer the phone????
Reported it to Ofcom, like I do with all these cal
You will have to look for the Ofcom website, URLs aren't allowed here:

Asked for someone with a different name. Refused to give details until I have DoB and NI number. I spoke to HRMS and explained the situation. They told me they never contact anyone unsolicited by phone and their internal directory does not contain their number. Also I have a new mobile number that HRMS do not have.
do not phone this number if you have like me received a text from them, mine stating " the agreement on your Nationwide account has now expired, please call us on 08445590865 quoting reference number SMS/REV2 to review. thank you." whatever you do DO NOT PHONE THIS NUMBER, I did not phone it as i know for a fact that banks do not contact their customers via text, this number will most likely take you to a very convincing pre-recorded hold message something along the lines of "we thank you for your patience an agent will be with you as soon as possble" that kind of thing, whilst this will be the official on hold message for Nationwide it will of been recorded by the scammers off of the phone, if Nationwide did have important information for you they would contact you by post!!!!!
