Just received a text from this number, text started with my First Name and the message was about getting advice about dealing with Debt.
Who are they? and how dare they address me using my first name!
Definitely no one I know as I use a nick name and have for years - I wonder if my telephone provider sold my details - shame on them!! I am going to ignore it and report it to Orange Mobile.

Spam text phishing
Just had a test message from this number...
"We have been trying to contact you about your PPI claim,we now have details about how much you are due, just reply CONFIRM and we will call you back"
Funny, I don't have a PPI claim ... yet, but can we stop these freeloaders?

I received the same message last week. I have a claim in progress and thought it was pukka.Tried to reply (I know!) Message didn't send. Googled the no. and found this site. Info'ed 3 Mobile. No harm done fortunately.

Ditto on the PPI nonsense. I suspect it has something to do with my number getting passed on from bad job applications. I only hope it costs them more to send the message than it does for me to delete it.
There are only so many numbers my phone can block, though. Curses!

Think you may be right about them accessing our details through Lloyds TSB as I have received same message and am currently dealing with LTSB
re PPI but they write in person rather than an informal text....

How can I stop receiving messages from these organisations?
You can report them to your network operator, who may be able to prevent further spam from the originating number. Unfortunately as the numbers often change, your network provider cannot guarantee to stop all unsolicited messages. You can either contact your network operator’s customer services or use one of the reporting numbers below:
Orange, O2 and T-Mobile: Forward the SMS to 7726
Vodafone: Forward the SMS to 87726
Three: Forward the SMS to 37726

Dont reply to this number in any shape or form. You will be charged for it at a premium rate even if you get free texts as part of a package. Tese people are lice. Ofcom should stop them.
Am I being overcautious, but don't hose reporting numbers posred by Anon look like premium rate as well?

Just been googled 7726 and from what I can see, it costs you to call it. Great! Some help! The Telcos are after your money just like the scammers. Not a word on TMobile's site (that I looked at to confirm that 7726 is free.

Scam - I also got the same PPI claim text - on two occasions. I would suspect that my details came from entering competions. I cannot think how else some would know my details.

2nd or 3rd time now, no name specified tho...I have only given my mobile no to very few people but Lloyds TSB is a very recent organisation to get it...
just a source possibility I suppose.

maybe its the three links(up&left) on the page we meet to voice our rage are those called WE. The software used to text millions is registered, modified to random selection(illegal). No regulator as yes, but logged by networks. jail them if they delete the evidence.:)

i too had a text message on my mobile from this number claiming ppi claims etc.. then i sent a text to the number saying stop . then i got charged. best advice is report these numbers to your mobile company and tell them to block it. & also register with tps .
