It can't be very important
I've been getting calls from this number at least 6 times a week since before christmas. I ignore it every time. If they really want to speak to me, they'll leave a message. Whoever this is doesn't seem to want to though!

I've been getting calls from this number. They haven't left a message. Other sites investigating nuisance calls warn they claim to be Vodaphone but then request personal details so unlikely to be. DON'T give them any personal information. If it is Vodaphone they should have your address to contact you by post if they need to and should not need to ask you for this.

Mrs Angry!!!
Glad I have found this site. I have had this number calling me every day for the last week. Interestingly, I changed my mobile before Xmas at a Vodophone shop and they offered me an extra sim card and number for my old phone free for two months, to give me time to get used to my new phone. I never used it, but now the free period is up I am being harassed with calls from this number and nobody answering when I answer!!

Seems dodgy
I answered the call to a young man (Aaron) claiming he's from Vodafone, knows my name and calls me a valued customer. As such, I am entitled to some special offers. He warns me that all calls are recorded etc for training and so on and then wants to know the second and 4th digits of some code! I can't remember which code he asked for but this is not the sort of thing I would expect from a legitimate company.
I told him no and I could find out about any deals from my account on their website.

Fed up too
I've signed a HM Government e-petition "Open debate on legality of automated sales calls" as it seemed to capture my thoughts.
The more who sign the same petition, the more likely it will be addressed. Why not take the time go to the web site and contribute?
I'd love to see recourse via our Service provides too for not stepping up to tackle this annoying practice.

Simple solution if you have a 'SMARTPHONE'
If you have a SMARTPHONE just use youre 'Block caller' but remember you need to name the caller so i named mine w****r as i was getting lots of calls from this number so one day i answered and they just hung up so i thought try the block caller and bingo no more calls plus you can see how many times they've tried to call you (my phone HTC Wildfire s) no more calls peaceful..

Ignorant comments
Just because they ask for your personal details does not mean they are dodgy and it does not mean that they don't know your details. (it's probably on the screen in front of them). It's called verification people...
They would like to verify your identity just as much as you would like to verify theirs.
If they were to make changes on YOUR vodafone account (such as changing a price plan), they're not going to let any random stranger confirm those changes on your behalf.
Use your head please.

Ignorant comments
They're likely part of Vodafone or an outsourced company calling on behalf of vodafone who are targetted and measured on calling existing customers who are eligible for offers (i.e. due an upgrade), trying to upsell other products and/or retain their custom through loyalty offers. Once you speak to them and decline them once, they're not likely to call you again for a while.

Have had many calls from them and they say they are from Vodafone but you can't return the call because they're on the main contact phone system. I am not going to give them my date of birth and other info they asked for as I am cautious. My son was caught out by a company saying they were from Vodafone and that he was due for an upgrade before he was - ended up with 2 phones to pay for and a load of hastle getting out of it. So beware!

sounds like a perfect opportunity to test out a smart phones "auto reject" list. The only way to beat this kind of crap - and I include what Vodaphone would term "legitimate marketing research" - is to ignore them with as little interuption to our daily lives as possible... Have a look at your phone to see how to auto reject, most smart phones can do it :)

I just received a missed call - attempted to call back but advised it charges so I called from a land line and got a message advising it is just a courtesy call from Vodafone and they may try to call again.
Ive had these calls before - all it is is Vodafone asking if you want some discounted products such as second handsets for yourself/ family or broadband dongles/ ipads etc.
People need to get a grip and find something more important to complain and set up petitions for!

I don't care who it is...
You should NEVER give any personal details to someone who phones you that you don't know.
When I told the lady today what I wanted proof that she really was calling from Vodafone, she said she would send me a text with the word Vodafone! Oh yes, that's proof, isn't it...
Even if this is from Vodafone, how do you think fraud happens? By people giving out their personal details! If the nice lady who rang me wants to give me a special offer as a valued customer (yeh right - remember Vodafone make millions of pounds a year and pay no tax on it), then write to me with your offer. Or just do it, if you're so desperate to take less money off me!

I was told this is a spam number and is not Vodafone themselves. I was told they would never ring you like this. It had been suggested that I report them to the police and once I have a case number to call Vodafone who would change my number for free. I chose to block the number instead as really Vodafone should be going after these people who pretend to be them.
The phone companies really need to get their act together on these spammers as it is getting to a high level.

Alternatively you can call 191 to amend your marketing preference (although this option doesn't have 100% success guarantee).

This caller is a company called.......
I can confirm that calls from this number originate from a company called LBM.co.uk who are are direct marketing company employed by Vodafone (and other large companies) to make sales calls on their behalf.
Take a look at their website! The 1st thing that struck me as appropriate when first saw it was the sales pitch they made for their "Intelligent Contact" solution called PLOP: Prepare, Predict, Learn, Optimise. OK, I changed the words around a little to get PLOP, but you catch my drift!
I contacted LBM myself and after I made a strong complaint and threatened to report them to the police siting harassment as my concern, they confirmed removal of my number from their files and I immediately stopped receiving the regular extremely annoying calls from this number.
So, email LBM a strong complaint yourself if you also want to stop them annoying and harassing you without delay!

The Woke Me Up!!
I just rang 191 and told them I was annoyed with being phoned at all hours by 08080996746 and nobody speaks, they leave blank voicemail messages and the last straw was being woken today at 7:30am. I Googled the number and found out it is Vodafone and I'm ringing you to ask you to stop! The lady immediately apologised and said she'd mark my account NOT TO BE PHONED UNLESS VERY IMPORTANT. So hopefully that will be the end of it! Her unsurprised demeanour told me she'd heard this complaint before. Sort it out Vodafone ffs!

Use your head!
I cant believe no one has fed them incorrect info yet! If you wanna find out if this is a scam or not, simply pretend to confirm your DOB etc but give incorrect info. If this is geniunely Vodafone they will advise you have not passed security and terminate the call, if its a scam they wont know its incorrect and will confirm that the info is correct (which you know it isnt). Simples!

Vodafone outsource to companies like LBM for sales. They are genuinely calling from Vodafone and they have to ask you these details (postcode and DOB) to access your account to make sure they are speaking with the correct person. All the calls are recorded for quality so if an advisor does not clear data protection with you on the call they will get in trouble at work. The calls work on an autodialler so you are likely to get multiple calls a day because your number is recycled and takes 4 hours to come back to the next advisor. All you have to do is ask nicely when they ring to be removed off the list. Because it is a auto dialler you may have to wait a couple of seconds before hearing anyone because they are not ready yet.
Its amazing how many sales these places get they are not Scams its Vodafone being a bit invasive of privacy but it gets them extra cash.
Do not worry just ask to be removed off the list. If you shout at them or are rude you will just get your number called again
